Big Week

This past week has been a busy one:
  • Mike turned the big 3-0
  • Went on our first date without Carter (thanks to G-ma Balderson for babysitting)
  • Went to the zoo (twice!)
  • Went for walks and ice cream with friends
  • Attended first BBQ of the season with friends
  • oh and bought a 95 year old home!
Yup it's been a busy past couple of days, obviously with the purchase of a home being the biggest deal. The house needs some definite work and I hope that we haven't gotten in over our heads (though I'm almost sure we have!) The place has a large 3 bedroom basement suite we plan on renting out to help with the payments as Mike is starting his PhD this fall. More info and pics to follow on this crazy endeavor!

Easter and Smiles

Today was Carters first Easter! Because we're all sick we quarantined ourselves and spent a lazy day watching conference (I didn't get dressed until 2 pm and Mike's still in his PJ's). I was a little bit sad that we didn't get together with family as usual but Mike had an abstract for a conference he's attending in June due on Friday and spent the WHOLE day writing it. I love holidays and getting together with loved ones. I'm glad my Aunt Marni + kids, grandma, and Trevor could come up earlier in the week - made up a bit for the loner holiday. My Grandma gave Carter an Easter card and the message on the inside was word for word what my mom would always send in her holiday cards! I've thought about my mom a lot this week and am so grateful for Easter and our Savior's Resurrection and that I'll be able to see and be with her again some day.

On a different note Carter has turned into such a smiley baby - here's a couple of those moments captured.
