This and that

Really this post is about nothing at all, I'm actually just avoiding tidying up the house.  But here are some snapshots of our cute little man and the little things we've been up to this past week.

 Story time with Dad

 Watching a little B-ball

 Chillin' like a villian

At the zoo (pretty sad shot I know but Carter's favourite thing to do is go down the slide headfirst - hence why I only took this one picture and spent the rest of the time trying to stop him from going face first into a pile of slushy ice at the bottom)

OBSESSED with going outside (spring PLEASE come soon!)

A little before and after

I feel the need to update but to be honest have been terrible at taking pictures since we've been home from our holiday.  So for the next week I will commit to take more pictures of my cute little man (because really that is what this blog is all about!) but in the meantime I'll share this little diddy of a project.  Currently we have one of those CHEAP ikea table sets, you know the one where you get the table AND all 4 chairs for like $140 or something.  Well it definitely doesn't fill our space nor does it look so pretty since it's been used as a work table in the renovation.  So I bought an old table off Kijiji that I plan on sanding down and painting white.  I was kindly given 4 of these fabulous old chairs from Mike's mom and have been so excited to transform them.  They were in pretty rough shape (that mark on the seat is a big ol' tear) but with a little loving are looking much more to my liking!

 BEFORE

AFTER

I had sanded it down in plans of painting it white to match the table but am considering (yes, on your advice Simone) just leaving them in this state.  I need opinions!!??  Obviously seeing the table would help but it is a little too ugly to reveal at this point.

Aloha!

Here's our fabulous week in Hawaii (sorry for the overload of photo's)!

 Ready to take off

Carter's first reaction to the sand was pure hatred!  He screamed and screamed.  Thankfully within 10 minutes he was good to go!

A sorry attempt at a group shot with kids.  So good to see and spend time with Paul and Nancy and their cute little family!

Carter injested A LOT of sand over the course of the week.

Carter dead alseep at the end of our hike.  Notice how pitch black it is.  I ended up seperated from the group, had low blood sugar and NO food, had Carter in my arms, in the darkness, in the JUNGLE, and was pretty sure I had turned the wrong way.  Probably one of the scariest experiences of my life!

 Love this shot!

Obviously I will post more on our fabulous week in Hawaii but I thought this stunt was too good to wait to share.  Enjoy!

E-town Weekend

Last weekend we headed up to good old edmonton.  Mike spent the weekend working like a mad man and I spent the weekend playing!  The following photos are at Galaxy land where Carter was in HEAVEN.  If we lived there I would definitely take regular advantage of the "free under 2" admittance!  Along with playing at West Ed we were able to spend an afternoon swimming with all the Balderson aunts, meet up with friends for breakfast at Cora's, do dinner on Whyte Ave with cousins and friends (we received a few funny looks walking down Whyte with our baby at 9pm on a Saturday night - ha!), and spend a bunch of time playing at Aunt Laurens where we stayed.

While Carter and I were busy playing, Mike was busy doing this:

And a few before pictures just for fun:

This is the condo Mike and I bought a couple months after we were married.  It was such a fun time in our newly married lives and I have such fond memories of our time in Edmonton together and living here.  We've rented the place out for the last nearly 4 years with no glitches or headaches UNTIL the pipes froze above our unit causing a major flood just before Christmas.  As much as I feel for our tenants who had all there stuff ruined and have been displaced for months, I'm glad it gave us the opportunity to switch up the flooring - which I never liked!  Insurance gave us the dollar amount of the previous flooring and by Michael doing the work himself we were able to upgrade for no extra cost.  Doesn't look to shabby if I do say so myself!!  I would even want to move back in myself if it weren't for the fact that us and all our stuff would never fit now!

Taking a break and Mike loading our baby up with sugar!

Afraid to Fly

Mike and I (and a bunch more Balderson's) are lucky enough to be heading to Hawaii in just 10 short days.  To say I'm excited would definitely be an understatement.  BUT.... I'm already losing sleep at night over my fear of the plane ride with Carter!  We're flying to Seattle, have a 4 hour layover, and then another 6 and a half hours to reach our tropical destination.   Really from the time we have to arrive at the Calgary airport to when we land in Honolulu it will be about 15 hours of travel.  For those of you who read this that witness Carter in person regularly you know that boy is BUSY.  We've already tried children's gravel and he's one of the few where it causes off the wall hyperactivity!  We have a prescription for a sleep med but I'm hoping to not have to use it.  I feel like he is the worst age to be flying with - he's super mobile and interested in everything but not interested enough to sit and watch a DVD or play with a toy for longer than a minute or two.  Suggestions people?????
