Shout out!

Shout out to my awesome husband (who will be embarrassed when he see's this) who passed the defense of his master's thesis with flying colours! Now on to the PhD (and getting us back into our home)!

Update

What I'm doing right now goes against everything I believe in ... that is posting without pictures.... but what can you do about it when you are homeless - which is what I am right now. Seattle was fabulous, Idaho was crazy and fun, and Magrath Days was good times as usual (posts to follow on all of these) but unfortunately my month of travel is over and I'm back to reality and that reality is a house where all our belongings (furniture and all) are piled into our bedroom and covered with plastic. Sooooo someday when I have my computer to use again (and hopefully a bed to sleep in) I will upload all the vacation pictures I took, which are primarily of Carter, and blog again.

Osta la vista baby!

We're off! Carter and I are flying to Seattle tomorrow to stay with family, from there we're heading to Idaho for a family reunion, and will end off all our travels in 2 1/2 weeks at Magrath days! July is going to be a great month!
All tuckered out after a day at the zoo with his mom and dad, grandma, and auntie Lauren

The Many Faces of Mr. Smith

Because we all know Julie is so anti-technology I thought the world may want a snippit of what she's sees everyday and we're not able to. This kid is more animated than any cartoon I know and I love it. Julie told me once "I don't know where all these faces come from" and I told her to look in the mirror. I told Mr. Smith the other day he looked like his mom and his reply was "I guess I need a hair trim."

Ottawa

Last week Mike had a conference out in Ottawa so we all headed out. I'm not going lie .... it was absolutely fabulous! So nice to get away from our wretched renovation project, to have beautiful weather (for the most part), and do lots of fun things, and best of all to have the school pay for most of it. Mike was pretty busy but was able to fit in a couple activities with us like visiting the mint, going on a river boat cruise of the Rideau canal, a visit to the Museum of Civilization, and a quick sit in on a Senate session. Carter and I had lots of time to saunter around the Museum of Nature, the ByWard Market and other fun shops, take in a tour of Parliament, and enjoy picnics on the grass. Ottawa is a great city and I would definitely go back again!

No biggie - only holding about half a million dollars worth of gold
Taking a nap in the shadows of Parliament
Happy boy to see his Dad on a break

FOOD!

Last week we gave Carter rice cereal for the first time and he LOVED it! Forget the whole teaspoon thing, he downed about half a cups worth. Just looking at him though you know this is a boy who takes eating seriously (just like his mom!)
First bite
Thinking this isn't too bad
Ready for more
Porridge drunk!
I just had to add this, Carter and his girlfriend Blakely! Who knows maybe they'll look quite similar to this in 50 years.

Family Pics

It's late, I should be in bed, but I'm not ...... so I thought I'd post something. We're in our new house now and I think I'm going to spend the next few months hanging out and staying with friends and family at THEIR homes and that's all I'm going to say about that because it's a touchy subject at the moment. Good news is we had family pics taken with the Balderson's and even though is was windy and cold they turned out pretty darn cute I think. Here's a couple - ENJOY!
It was cold and this is Carter bundled up and asleep between photos
Aren't these ladies so cute
Love this one
