The Many Faces of Mr. Smith

Because we all know Julie is so anti-technology I thought the world may want a snippit of what she's sees everyday and we're not able to. This kid is more animated than any cartoon I know and I love it. Julie told me once "I don't know where all these faces come from" and I told her to look in the mirror. I told Mr. Smith the other day he looked like his mom and his reply was "I guess I need a hair trim."

Ottawa

Last week Mike had a conference out in Ottawa so we all headed out. I'm not going lie .... it was absolutely fabulous! So nice to get away from our wretched renovation project, to have beautiful weather (for the most part), and do lots of fun things, and best of all to have the school pay for most of it. Mike was pretty busy but was able to fit in a couple activities with us like visiting the mint, going on a river boat cruise of the Rideau canal, a visit to the Museum of Civilization, and a quick sit in on a Senate session. Carter and I had lots of time to saunter around the Museum of Nature, the ByWard Market and other fun shops, take in a tour of Parliament, and enjoy picnics on the grass. Ottawa is a great city and I would definitely go back again!

No biggie - only holding about half a million dollars worth of gold

Happy boy to see his Dad on a break

FOOD!

Last week we gave Carter rice cereal for the first time and he LOVED it! Forget the whole teaspoon thing, he downed about half a cups worth. Just looking at him though you know this is a boy who takes eating seriously (just like his mom!)

Thinking this isn't too bad
Ready for more
Porridge drunk!
I just had to add this, Carter and his girlfriend Blakely! Who knows maybe they'll look quite similar to this in 50 years.

Family Pics

It's late, I should be in bed, but I'm not ...... so I thought I'd post something. We're in our new house now and I think I'm going to spend the next few months hanging out and staying with friends and family at THEIR homes and that's all I'm going to say about that because it's a touchy subject at the moment. Good news is we had family pics taken with the Balderson's and even though is was windy and cold they turned out pretty darn cute I think. Here's a couple - ENJOY!
It was cold and this is Carter bundled up and asleep between photos
Aren't these ladies so cute
Love this one

Thunder Thighs

Check out these legs.... seriously could they be any cuter! My lovely sister (who was over this week to help pack up the house) pointed out the fact that on adults massive thunder thighs aren't a desirable thing, but on BABIES they are to die for. So Carter I hope you keep your chubby thighs for a while because I LOVE THEM. On another note we went down South last weekend for May Long and had a fun filled time. It was great to leave the city and some of the major stresses we've had lately behind (primarily the new house - or I should say really old house - and everything it's going to entail) if even only for a weekend. Some of the highlights were visiting my brothers in Taber, seeing my other brothers 100 year old house in Lethbridge for the first time, lunch with my G-ma and G-pa, temple trip, family photos with the Baldersons, seeing Seth interact with Carter, getting together with old high school friends one night, riding the quad around town with mike to the Dahl's bonfire (don't worry Carter wasn't on there with us), and a visit to Waterton. I didn't take a ton of pictures but here's a couple I did manage to shoot.

We move this monday - WISH US LUCK!

Family Bonfire

My brother + family came up to Calgary from Lethbridge for the day and we headed to Fishcreek Park for a little R & R...... well not really with this crowd! On my side of the family 6 of the 7 grandkids are boys which means HAVOC. And poor Cecily (the only little lady) really is just as energetic as the boys! It was definitely a fun afternoon though and and I'll take this crazy crowd anytime!

I asked them what they would do if a bear showed up and this is what I got
You know a face this dirty and tired means he had a REALLY good afternoon!

Carter is now just over 4 months and is growing up so fast! Here are some of his likes, dislikes, and updates:
  • Had his 4 month check yesterday and is 18 lbs. He's in the 100th percentile for weight and is 110th percentile for height.
  • He's started grabbing things and keeps himself entertained when in his car seat by pulling on his hanging toy.
  • Is laughing more and more all the time.
  • Hates sudden loud noises and sometimes cries when startled.
  • Loves his Dad (Mike's a baby whisperer!)
  • Tries really hard to roll from his back to his front and can do so with just a LITTLE help.
  • Sleeps through the night most nights but usually refuses to nap longer than 30 minutes during the day.
We love this little Tyke!
